MSgt Marvin James "Jim" "Big Marv" Fletcher (USAF Ret), age 80, passed away November 4th, 2010.

MSgt Marvin James “Jim” “Big Marv” Fletcher, 80, of Panorama Village died on November 4, 2010. He was born September 25, 1930 in Fort Worth, Texas. Jim was known by his community as "Pawpaw the Clown." Jim honorably served our country in the United States Air Force for twenty years before his retirement. Preceded in death by wife of 51 years, Wanda.

Jim was the NCOIC of the Special Signals (ELINT) shop at Yokota, 6988th Scty Sqdn, when I arrived for my first airborne assignment in late '65. Recall in the waning years of his career, he landed an embassy assignment in Tehran. He served that tour and PCS'd just days ahead of the hostage crisis at the US Embassy. “Big Marv” was a terrific supervisor... his leadership, guidance, and friendship served me well through my career. We shared many missions in the SOJ, and many trips to SEA aboard 91537, "STRAWBRIDGE." Rest in peace, my friend. //Darr King//Note: See Strawbridge photo on page 68 Dec FTVA Newsletter//Rass//
