Gilpatrick, Bobby J.

Bobby Joe Gilpatrick, 69, of Littleton. Husband of Christel, father of Coleen and Kathleen, father-in-law of John and Thomas, grandfather of Mitchell, Zachary, and Grace. Memorial service 1:00pm Monday, October 18th, St. Phillips Lutheran Church, Littleton, followed by military service 3:00pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Bobby's obituary seems too brief for a man who had contributed so much to his country. I went to the PWG Roster to find a little more information. His bio there was quite brief as well. Obviously this was a man who did not like to draw much attention to himself. However, as a brother Silent Warrior and a member of the Prop Wash Gang and a man whom I had the opportunity to meet I can assure all that this was no ordinary man. He served his country in a very dangerous profession during a time when the Soviet Union and the United States stood toe to toe in a possible nuclear holocaust. This man is just one of many heroes of that time. Here is his bio from the PWG Roster:

Former Russian linguist at Bremerhaven in 1956, Rhein-Main Air Force Base, Germany (replacement for crewman lost on 60528 in October 1958), Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska (Bonus Baby B-47's), then alternating between Rhein-Main Air Force Base, Germany and Eielson Air Force Base until 1964. Farmed out to the Air Training Command and became a programmer after marrying Christel who was German, retiring from Gunter Air Force Base, Alabama in 1975 as a Master Sergeant. Retired again from Department of Interior in 1996 as GS-15. Now living in Littleton, CO.

Rest in Peace, my brother warrior. - Airlee Owens
